What is a Chutney?
The dictionary says: a spicy condiment thought to have originated in India. Modern chutneys are cooked and made with fruit, vinegar, sugar, and spices.
Just a spoonful of chutney adds spark to everyday dishes. Their bold flavours add interest and complexity to simple dishes, stews and casseroles. They make a pleasant change to eat with roast chicken or lamb or fish.
Try mixing small amounts into stuffing to spice the up and sharpen the flavour. A selection of chutneys greatly enhances cold meats and salads.
